STATISTICS IN DIVERSITY FINAL PROJECT
STATISTICS: A WINDOW TO UNDERSTANDING DIVERSITY
University of California, Los Angeles | December 2019
The purpose of this class was to teach students how to apply statistics to social science fields, with an emphasis on using data analytics to study diversity and inclusion.

For the final project, students were given data from a survey conducted on 866 UCLA students that asked a variety of questions on students' race / ethnicity, family background, GPA, feelings on academic performance and social life, and more. Each group was responsible for creating a statistical model that explored the data provided.

Kienna's group chose to study the impact that a UCLA student's perception of ethnic inclusivity had on academic performance, feelings of exclusion, and stress levels. They chose the respective variables from the data set and used a multivariate linear model to study this idea. Kienna was responsible for data cleaning, producing graphs of the project results, and analysis of the interaction effect used in the model.
